PayProtect is a legitimate payment service exclusive to the carsales network. It should only be used on it's websites. carsales network sites include:
Recently, scammers have been offering buyers to pay for an item via PayProtect through other sites such as eBay and Gumtree. They will send you an invoice requiring you to send money via PayProtect to a bank in Germany. The "owner" of the vehicle is normally situated in Hobart or Interstate.
Please note that anyone offering to use the PayProtect service outside of the carsales network is not legitimate, and is definitely suspicious.
